Movies and Madness

MOVIES AND MADNESS

Mahesh AmmanaMOVIES AND MADNESS

Mahesh Ammanamanchi

INTRODUCTION

Lately, we heard that some of the ignorant folks in the Telangana Region have attacked Cinema Theaters, boycotted Films, and stopped filming of some movies that belonged to the people who were for a Samaikhya Andhra Pradesh. A very Unfortunate happening. Why? Just because the ingredients were belonging to individuals who were supporting a United Andhra Pradesh. No. This was not by the genuine people of Telangana, or the Telugu speaking People, who always look for some good entertainment. But, by the paid hooligans of the politicians who had ulterior motives, and, hidden agendas.

Arts, Leisure, Entertainment, Talent, Culture, never have any boundaries like religion, Caste, Language, or, any other divisions. And now, we get to know, that movies of all the people, and their kith and kin, who are for a United Andhra Pradesh, are a No No. Did these people say, or, did, anything, that was detrimental to the normal livelihood to the common people of Telangana? Did they, all of a sudden, deprive the people of Telangana of some employment or development? Or made them hungry, by stealing their Food? No. It is a new ploy by some cunning Telangana Politicians, to hoodwink a few ignorant people.

When was the last time any Telugu speaking Person, watched a Telugu movie, only a product of purely Telugu Speaking People? Whether it is acting, producing, distributing, screening, or, any other aspect, related to getting a Telugu Speaking Person enjoying a movie, there was always some content, that was not definitely from Andhra Pradesh, forget from other regions, other than Telangana. That’s the nature of the beast.

To educate the ignorant and scheming politicians, trying to make Hay while the Sun shines, Arts, Entertainment, Music, Literary Talents, and many more of such, never had any Boundaries. Whatever they may be. They were never a part of any agitations. If some one wants to make them an issue now, to strengthen their hidden agenda, they are mistaken.

HISTORY

Balasaheb’s Shiva Sena was always was for “Bombay for Bombayites”, or, for Marathi Speaking people. Then, it became “Mumbai for Mumbaikars”. But, the whole Hindi Movie Industry in Mumbai was always a family consisting of people from all regions of India. Producers, Directors, Music Directors, Actors, Actresses, Singers, Lyric writers, and many other Talented Artists and Technicians were from all parts of India. Balasaheb never made any issue of this. Why? He respected Talent. And, Talent knew no boundaries.

If Shiva Sena, and its leader, Balasaheb, had any issues about origins, none of the famous ARTISTS, many of who are legends, would have seen the light of the day. Our own Telugu Speaking people like SPB, Waheeda Rehman, Ram Gopal Verma, etc, would have been non entities. And, Imagine, the success and contribution of people from other regions of India. We all know Kishore Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Mithun Chakraborthy, Sharmila Tagore, and many more other celebrities from were from West Bengal!, Danny Denzogpa, Manisha Koirala, etc, were from the Northeast!! Kamal Hasan, Sree Devi, etc , from the South? Satrughan Sinha, from Bihar. And, many, many more talented Movie Professionals, making the Industry, Popular, Prosperous, and, employing thousands of Talented Marathi Speaking people, and gainfully employed, were from outside of Maharashtra.

When it comes to Tamilnadu, MGR, (MG Ramachandra Menon) was a Malayalee. The most famous actor in Tamil. Rajnikanth, a Kannadiga. A super Actress in Tamil. Jayalalitha, had Telugu Roots. And many more. All succeeded. Never had any Problems.

Even several years after Andhra Pradesh separated from Tamilnadu, the Telugu Film Industry was still located in Chennai (then Madras). If the people of Tamilnadu were angry that we were separated from them, they would have asked us to get out right then. Did they? Why did they not? I think they were sensible. There were several establishments in Chennai and Tamilnadu that are owned and operated by Telugus. Did any one in Tamilnadu asked us to get out? No. Money Matters. Not Madness.

MOVIE ACTORS

You, Politicians, use Movie Actors, when you want them, and dump them, when you don’t. If they were so great, they will be. Who are the Movie Actors, who became role players in Indian Politics? To our knowledge, there are a few. Few of them became great. Like MGR, NTR, Jayalalitha, became Chief Ministers, a few other became Members of Parliament, like Dharmendhra, Hema Malini, Raj Babbar, etc. And few like Satrughan Sinha, Krishnam Raju, etc., became members of the Central Cabinet, May be a few, became MLAs, like Kota Srinivasa Rao, Babu Mohan (in AP). How Vijayashanthi became so popular fighting for a Separate Telangana State? Why did KCR give her so much importance and even made her a MP? Did anyone know that she had any Telangana Roots, till she started an outfit “Thalli Telangana” to fight for a separate state? She can be termed as an “UNEMPLOYED MOVIE ARTISTE”.

Why many Movie Artists went around mobilizing money whenever there was a natural calamity like floods, earthquakes, fire, etc.? Movie actors were always the first in the line to support and sponsor help for the suffering and affected people, irrespective of the region or religion? Did not the common people respond and contribute for the cause? Did any one say he or she belonged to a certain region, and what was the reason that they are fighting the fire? And in comparison, did any politician ever collected funds for a great human cause? Never. If they collected money, it was for politics, or for personal benefit.

A SAD STATE OF AFFAIRS

And all of a sudden, we hear about boycott, attack, destroy, or whatever, the production, movies, shows, etc., of all the wonderful products of the hard working talented artists and technicians, producers and distributors, just because some of those involved, are associated and espousing a just cause, and, are not in conformity with some misguided thoughts. Very Funny. Did anyone of these jokers ever gather statistics of how many Talented and formerly unemployed people from the Telangana Region got gainfully employed after the Telugu Movie Industry moved from Chennai to Hyderabad?

If the cunning politicians using Telangana as an excuse to gain lucrative employment, continue to damage and destroy the Movie Industry, just because of political reasons, and if it leads to the Telugu Movie Industry moving back to Chennai, or may be Mumbai, what will happen to the thousands of the people of Telangana Region, gainfully employed, supporting their families, feeding a few hungry mouths, and striving to make Hyderabad and surrounding areas, a hub for the Movie Industry?. No Problem. Because the shrewd politician will find some other reason, join some other party, make some money by dubious means, and enjoy Life. But, the poor Talented Technician, from the Telangana Region, depending on the Movie Industry for employment, supporting his/her family, will be languishing on the streets begging, borrowing, stealing, or who knows, may, become a politician, to pursue a guaranteed route to prosperity.

AN APPEAL TO ALL SENSIBLE PEOPLE

We cannot drive sense into some people, because they have a closed mind, and we absolutely cannot do that to a Politician, because they do not have a mind. However, we can try our luck to drive sense into a common person’s mind, because their priorities are well set, such as survival and success. Works of Arts, Entertainment, Literature, Music, Paintings, Drama, Movies, Inventions, Innovations, Discoveries, etc., should never be a target of ire or irritation, irrespective of who are behind it. One good reason, it is not who is the creator of the above, but, how many people are depending on them for their livelihood, and making life enjoyable, and preserving the Human Culture.

Please convey a message to the politicians, also known as Destroyers of Culture, to keep off from plans and programs which are Disgusting designs for Damage and Destruction that can lead to Demise of the God given Gift of Human Civilization and Culture.

VICTORY FOR SAMAIKHYA ANDHRA PRADESH

Mahesh Ammanamanchi

Finally, all the Surprises, Suspense, and Silly Dramas got suspended. It is such a great relief that Congress (I) realized, recognized, and responded, with a reasonable and responsible stand, after all the hoopla. I thank them from the bottom of my heart for a good DECISION.

There was not one good reason that they could come out with, for all this mess. As we all know, PC (P. Chidambaram) succumbed to the pressure of KC (K. Chandrashekhara Rao) and did BC (Bungled the Case), thus causing CC (Chaos and Crisis). Then, CC (Central Congress) got pressurized by SC (State Congress), mostly comprising of TC (Thieves and Chamchas), and not knowing what to do, started the process of DC (Damage Control). After all the LC (Loss of Crores), they wanted to resolve this imbroglio, by involving the HC (High Command).

Now, it is VC (Victory of the Commons). I am sure all of us are Happy.

Let us get to know the truth of the Story. Here are a few questions, all of those Clowns and Jokers have to Answer, if they really believe in what are they doing, saying, and want us to believe in them.

1. My first few questions go to K. Chandrashekhara Rao, more known as KCR. The best expansion for KCR is King of the Circus Ring. You have been a Member of the AP Assembly for the past 2 decades from Telangana. Why did it suddenly dawn on you in 2002 or 3 to float a party for a Separate Telangana State, claiming that it was a poor, underdeveloped Region, and it was treated like an Orphan? Were you Blind, Deaf, or, Dumb, that you could not figure out the reasons, that are your main stay now?

2. Can you release the details of your agreement with the Congress (I) in 2004 for a pre poll alliance? We will pay for the expense if you want it to be published in all the leading Daily Newspapers of Andhra Pradesh. Assuming that there was an agreement, what was the Time Frame for a Separate Telangana State? And if there was a deadline, what was it?

3. When you won 5 Lok Sabha Seats and 25 + Assembly seats in 2004 with a Congress (I) Alliance, why did you not have a bargaining power to demand a Separate Telangana State, and fix a deadline, as you do now? When you have been a Member of the AP Assembly for nearly 2 decades, why did you not contest from Medak Parliamentary Constituency, in 2004, which comprises of Siddipet, your Assembly seat?

4. When you contested for the Lok Sabha, what was the reason for choosing Karimnagar Seat? When there were at least 15 Parliamentary seats in Telangana, then? And what was the reason for resigning so many times? And Contest again? Do you know how much it costs the Government (aka Taxpayers) to conduct an election? The expense your two recontested elections from Karimnagar could have fed thousands of Hungry Telangana Mouths for hundreds of days, or paid for their children’s school education for a few years, or, covered the medical expenses of sick and ill human beings of Telangana, or the money could have been spent for other essential supplies and services of Telangana People for many months. I mean, the same people, you and your cronies are currently worried about.

5. If your demand for a Separate Telangana State has so much value, why did many of your party’s elected members rebel against you? When all of you resigned, and, recontested, how many of you retained their seats? Can you please explain the reasons for the heavy losses?.

6. May the people of Telangana know the reasons for you having a poll alliance with TDP and the Left Parties in 2009 elections, and breaking it soon after the elections? Why did Vijayasanthi, your party MP stopped caring you? And out of all the Parliament and Assembly seats you contested in 2009, why did you not win in many of the seats your Party contested?

7. And after the 2009 elections, why did you keep quiet till November and relegate your demand for a Separate Telangana State to the back burner?

8. And, now, it is Chandrababu’s Turn to answer the questions. Having opposed a Separate Telangana State as long as you were an ally of BJP, that claims to have created 3 states, what was the reason for a sudden Turnabout in 2009 for a poll alliance with TRS? Did you ever realize that people perceived it to be a marriage of convenience? It is not a Turnaround strategy, it’s Turncoat Politics. Telugu Desam was a party floated by the late and great NTR to restore the pride of all Telugu Speaking People. And, one of the objectives was to keep all the Telugu speaking People United. You hijacked the party, which in Corporate Terms, is known as Hostile Takeover, and converted it to be a personal domain. Many of the Telugus appreciated your efforts to develop Andhra Pradesh, but not your political machinations.

9. May the Telugu People know what is your party’s (aka your stand) about the division of the state? I thought only the weather and Wall Street change everyday, but looks like your stand changes every minute, if not every second. All of us know Akaasam lo Chandrudu (Moon in the Sky) changes his shape every night, but with you, it’s not predictable.

10. Oh God! Its now the BJP’s turn to answer the questions. If they ever have any answers. The BJP people from Telangana, like Vidyasagar Rao, Bhandaru Dattatreya etc, are in the forefront of the Separate Telangana Movement now. They both held Cabinet positions when BJP was in power. Did any one of the Telangana People hear about their concern about Telangana? Did these two ever talk or demand a separate state? Now, they say, that when that BJP was in Power, 3 states were created. OK. Well and good. Can they produce one bit of evidence that they ever voiced their concerns for a Separate Telangana? They cannot, because they did not. Sorry BJP people.

11. Is it worth this space to ask any questions for all the other parties that occupy the political landscape of AP? I don’t know. But, let us give them a chance. PRP, CPI, CPM, Lok Satta, etc, since you are there, please answer. What’s your stand on a Separate Telangana State, if you have any? Please do not feel bad, if you cannot answer. When many of the major parties cannot, you have no reason to feel guilty.

12. Now’s the time to ask a Big question to all the Telangana People. Do you really want a Separate State? Do you believe these politicians? Do you think Telangana is backward? Is it Underdeveloped? Or under nourished? Or is it treated like a child of a lesser God? Don’t Laugh. I am not joking. As my friend Narendra Yasa said, may be there was a need of an agitation or movement for a Separate Telangana State way back in 1969, when it was totally different from what it is now. He reiterated that a demand for a Separate Telangana State in this century doesn’t make any Sense. And, he is from Telangana.

FINALLY

All the above Politicians, Parties, Individuals, please answer/respond to all of the questions, and only then, you can think or plan to have any further agitations, Fast Unto Death Programs, Schemes to instigate Innocent and Ignorant Students, Cause hell and Havoc, create hardships to common hardworking people, damage and destruct Public Property, and, bring a Negative image to the Great State of Andhra Pradesh.

I APPEAL TO ALL THE TELUGU SPEAKING PEOPLE, WHEREVER THEY LIVE, AND OTHER FRIENDS OF ANDHRA PRADESH, TO BE TOGETHER FOR AN UNITED ANDHRA PRADESH

VIDYARTHULA VIJAYAM

NO

VIDYA KU AVAMANAM

MAHESH AMMANAMANCHI

As we have all seen and read recently, the Midnight Announcement by P Chidambaram of the Congress (I) was proclaimed by many elected and other politicians of the Telangana Region as Vidyarthula Vijayam (Students Victory). It was very confusing, because of the Fast unto Death and other gimmicks performed and pursued by the Telangana politicians, I thought they would claim the success. Instead, they praised and credited the Vidyarthulu as the victors.

Does it mean that the politicians concluded that they do not deserve the credit, or, it was one more effort by them to hoodwink the innocent Vidyarthulu to suffer and sacrifice more, for supporting the selfish agenda of the Politicians? This exercise definitely needs to be analyzed appropriately.

HISTORY

Way back in 1969, as referred in the previous article, the Late Dr. Channa Reddy was also successful in roping in Students, and hundreds of Students laid down their lives, thousands of them lost their limbs, tens of thousands of them spoiled their future. After the agitation was aborted, he repositioned himself in power, increased his prominence, and, improved his prosperity.

And, alas, what happened to all those students, who struggled, and were not even declared Martyrs? No Plaques, No Statues, no anniversaries, no mention of their names. At least in the USA, there is a cemetery in Arlington, Virginia, where dead soldiers are laid to rest with all Military Honors, like a 21 gun Salute, music played by the Military Band, etc. However, that part of the area where they are buried is known as “Tomb of the Unknown”. Here we are, absolutely no such thing. Their hard working parents, working day and night to make both ends meet, and spending their fortune to educate and dreaming of their son or daughter becoming an Engineer, Doctor, Lawyer, Professor, Scientist, not only lost their child/children, but also hopes and happiness.

Guess, who were the beneficiaries of he being in some office of profit? Cronies, Loyalists, his children, and other hangers on (Example: Marri Shashidhar Reddy, MLA of AP, and some office of profit at the Center). So, what happened to all those who lost lives, became handicapped, and, sacrificed their future, for the support of his Separate Telangana Movement? No one knows. They, who are lucky to be alive, and, their parents may be languishing in abject poverty, and cursing politicians for their fate.

VIDYARTHULU

It is true, Vidyarthulu have always been in the forefront of many agitations and movements, whether it was the Separate Telangana Movement in 1969, or the Lok Narayan Jaya Prakash Narayan’s movement in the 1970s, or the End Emergency movement in 1975. Consistently, they have been the backbone of major political movements in India, and when I say Consistently, I mean it. There has been lot of Consistency in it. Everyone, a scheming Politician hatches a plan, because he has to regain his/her power, uses Vidyarthulu as the army. In the USA, the President is the Commander in Chief of the Armed forces. If he stages a war, or commissions the US military, no questions asked, everyone in the Military has to obey.

But, there is a difference. All those who are enlisted in the Military, are bestowed with many benefits, their health insurance is guaranteed, their families are taken care of, and, they are recognized and rewarded, for the service and sacrifice for the country. And in India, Vidyarthulu are used, misused, and, abused, for every agitation, movement, and, whatever. I thought, Vidyarthulu, are expected to be intelligent, but, not innocent, and ignorant.

What is the primary objective of being a Vidyarthi? A human being has many options of living life, earning livelihood, pursuing a future. He/She can be a Car driver, Peon, Servant Maid, Clerk, Dhobi, Hair Cutter, Shoe repairer, a milk vendor, Vegetable/fruit Seller, Rickshaw Puller, Auto Rickshaw Driver, or pursue any employment or business or career. I am not referring the above with any intentions of belittling their professions or pursuits. Every one of them works hard, they have families to support, and we all need them, in our daily lives.

It is only fate in their life that they could not become a Vidyarthi, and become a literate, and pursue careers as a Doctor, Engineer, Lawyer, Architect, Professor, etc. I remember my father saying that by acquiring an academic qualification, we cannot claim that we are Educated, we are just Literate. Many educated people can be Literates, but, not all Literates are Educated. Most of the people pursuing the activities I referred in the previous paragraph may not be literate, but, most of them, definitely educated. Education and Literacy cannot be understood to be the same.

However, if a Literate person is not perceived to be educated, that is a recipe for disaster. We all pursue Education, or start as a Vidyarthi, to read, study, learn, and, acquire knowledge, for the creation of different things. Let me be very blunt here. Did any of our Teachers, Lecturers, Professors, while we were a Vidyarthi, teach us to destroy Property, disturb peace, create nuisance, cause inconvenience to common people, lose our lives or limbs, spoil our future, or be a criminal, or not be a person of civility? No one, Never. Not at all.

VIDYA is Education. ARTHI is a person working on acquiring Education. Anyone can be a Vidyarthi. If someone is a Vidyarthi, they have to follow, commit, sacrifice, suffer, surrender, and, separate themselves from activities that do not comply with the standard operating procedures of being a Vidyarthi or being born to parents who want us be a Vidyarthi. We all have our options open. But once we commit to be a Vidyarthi, Let us be ONE.

Vidyarthulu, I have been there, seen all, done that, recognized and realized the value of being one, and, feel very bad of doing some things, I did, and feel I should not have done them. I salute my Parents for their hard work to provide me the Best education, I could have ever had.
AN APPEAL

I am pleading, requesting, and, appealing to every Vidyarthi, particularly to every Vidyarthi in the Telangana Region, not to succumb to the manipulations or machinations of the Telangana Region, because, almost every politician there has have ulterior motives and hidden agendas to advance their political careers and pursue their prosperity. Almost none of them have ever recognized or rewarded any Vidyarthi with anything beneficial, once their plans materialized, agendas accomplished, and, objectives optimized.

Your parents have sent to the academic institutions you are students of, by working hard and spending their fortunes, in anticipation of survival and success, progress and prosperity, hope and happiness. Apart from their expense, the Government, at the Tax Payer’s expense, is spending lots of money on funding the Academic Institutions you are being educated in, whether it may be in the form of Salaries of the Teaching Staff, the Administrative personnel, the Accommodation you live in, or the Public Transportation that moves you from Place A to Place B.

Please think of the same students in your academic institutions who have accomplished accolades, occupied positions of importance, acquired Doctorates, became great personalities, not only in India, but also in several parts of the world. Just think of Dr. Abdul Kalam, your former President, or Dr. Manmohan Singh, your present Prime Minister, or any one who was a Vidyarthi, long time ago, or any other great person of your choice. Believe me, none of the Great people, who have been a Vidyarthi, ever destroyed government property, caused inconvenience, or created hardships to a common person, working hard to feed a few mouths, like many of your parents.

MORAL OF THE STORY

Just because you are a Vidyarthi, mistaking that you are having a lot of free time, spend all your spare time, to participate in all these fruitless exercises, and get inspired by all and sundry politicians, who have gotten there, where they are now, because of ill-gotten wealth, well developed connections, and, as said earlier, with a selfish intention of prospering themselves, and, by advancing their personal agenda.

Please spend your spare time by reading success stories, like JRD Tata, the Senior Birla, Dhirubhai Ambani, Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, Larry(Oracle), David Tepper, etc. Or may be
Benjamin Franklin, Abraham Lincoln, Swami Vivekananda, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Akbar, Shah Jehan (the Taj Mahal he Built is still one of the wonders of the world), or, any thing else that will inspire you to be a great human being for the future.

Every one of you is brilliant human beings. Do not waste it. Utilize your intelligence. Be a Good Human Being. Create something Great (Not Separate Telangana). That the subsequent generations will remember you.

PLEASE DO NOT LOSE YOUR LIFE OR LIMBS, OR MAKE YOUR PARENTS FEEL ASHAMED OF YOU.

BE A BRIGHT STUDENT, PROUD BROTHER/SISTER, HAPPY SPOUSE, RESPONSIBLE PARENT, A GREAT TELUGU, AND, A PROUD INDIAN.

SEPARATE TELANGANA STATE

A Mockery, not a movement

By: Mahesh Ammanamanchi

I am writing the following article out of grief and pain, not out of glee and pleasure.

HISTORY

We all remember that a demand and a bloody agitation for a Separate Telangana state was launched in 1969 by the Late Dr. Chenna Reddy, who was an UNEMPLOYED politician then, which subsequently faded, when he was reemployed. Similarly, when KCR could not get into the Chandrababu’s Cabinet, and instead Vijayarama Rao, a new entry into politics, coincidentally belonging to the same caste as KCR, was inducted as a minister, a demand for Separate Telangana State came handy for KCR, who was an UNDEREMPLOYED POLITICIAN.

His efforts were bolstered by another UNDEREMPLOYED POLITICIAN, A. Narendra of the BJP, who was left alone to lick his wounds for not only missing a berth in Vajpayee’s cabinet, but also missing the opportunity of a consolation prize of becoming the State President of BJP. He also embarked on the same issue of a Separate Telangana State, which, as we all know now, has become a favorite weapon for every UNEMPLOYED AND UNDEREMPLOYED POLITICIAN.

And there are UNUSED POLITICIANS, who aspire for some position, inspite of being an elected member in the State or Center.

DEFINITIONS

Having used the terms UNEMPLOYED AND UNDEREMPLOYED POLITICIANS above, apart from some more, it is good to define them.

An UNEMPLOYED POLITICIAN is one who has been in politics for quite a while, but suddenly denied a ticket for some elections, or in the worst case scenario (best case for a common man) loses the election and languishing in the illegally occupied accommodation provided when he/she was a elected politician. In the US and other civilized nations, they are referred to as Law Makers, but unfortunately, in India, they can be better called as Law Breakers.

An UNDEREMPLOYED POLITICIAN is one who is an elected politician but failed in becoming a Minister in the State or Central cabinet, or any other office of profit, more commonly known as a Chairman of some Corporation, or something similar, with the same perks as a minister, at the tax payers’ expense.

(There are so many of the above, I cannot refer all the names, because of space shortage, but would like to mention a few, for your amusement, like V.Hanumantha Rao, Sarve Satyanarayana, Palvai Goverdhan Reddy, K.R. Amos, R. Damodar Reddy, .)

An UNUSED POLITICIAN is an elected member in the State or Center, but is not satisfied with what he/she has. (Examples: G. Venkataswamy, dreaming of becoming the President of India, or at least the Vice President, M. Satyanarayana Rao, aspiring to be a Governor of some state. Both of them are elected members of the State and Center)

An UNINTURREPTED POLITICIAN is one who continues to be an elected member (in the State or Center) and sometimes a minister, irrespective of political affiliations, for unknown reasons. (Examples: S. Jaipal Reddy, K. Jana Reddy, G. Sukhendar Reddy, etc).
I wish these people had some spine.

THE ISSUE

A SEPARATE TELANGANA STATE. Why? What For? And for Whom? As said earlier, a demand for the above has been a weapon for many politicians, as is a toy for a Kid during Christmas. If a politician is bored because of having a lot of leisure time, think and pursue an issue that will keep him/her fully engaged and many times, gainfully employed. The common people watch TV, go to restaurants, watch movies, take vacations, or do something that pleases themselves and their families/friends. And Guess, what our politicians do, Think and worry about Separate Telangana State.

BACKWARDNESS

Why is Telangana not developed, or as perceived so, by these jokers? Because, many of them, and the others that are straining their vocal cords now, do not have the intelligence to figure out what caused this. Many, or most of these people, who are now going on “FAST UNTO DEATH” exercises, speaking to the Media, or staging some kind of a drama, were elected members in the State and Center, occupied offices of profit, held positions of importance, were too busy with other things, when Telangana was suffering.

Let me elaborate on the above. Andhra Pradesh was formed several decades ago. Ever since then, people of the Telangana Region have elected Members of the State Legislature, Central Parliament, and some of these folks have been Ministers in the State and Center, Chief Ministers, Governors, and, fortunately, (we even had a Prime Minister), apart from holding other offices of prominence and profit. What were they doing then? Was Telangana Prosperous at that time? Was Telangana a developed Region then? Or, they were too busy pampering themselves with the spoils of power and not bothered about about the problems of Telangana, as they want to be now?

No doubt, Telangana is backward, as like other areas in India, or any other part of the World. But its been like that, or if it is like that, the elected politicians, ministers, Chief Ministers, Central Ministers, Governors, and all the other politicians who held offices of profit, from the Telangana Region, since the formation of Andhra Pradesh, are responsible, and to be blamed. It is like brooding over spilt milk. Either politicians of this kind should not be where they are, or the people of Telangana should not elect them any more.

FREEDOM AT MIDNIGHT

Congress (I), through P. Chidambaram, announced a Separate Telangana State close to midnight, recently. May be it was inspired with the British declaring that India will be an Independent Nation in the midnight. Nothing different from KCR making decisions during the night in non normal conditions. I expected PC will be different from KCR. Either he was in the same condition as KCR is every night, or he was a scapegoat, or succumbed to a few Congress (I) politicians from the Telangana Region, who were more interested in advancing their hidden agenda.

Congress (I) had an electoral alliance with TRS in 2004 and shared Parliament and Assembly seats with it. Some say Congress (I) agreed to carve out Telangana soon after the elections, some others say that it only agreed to constitute a Second SRC (States Reorganization Commission). So far, No one knows what are the details of their agreement. Much water flowed under the bridge, but no one knows the details of their agreement. In the Congress (I) scheme of things, the issue of a Separate Telangana State was relegated to the back burner, with some excuse or the other.

Congress (I), which is already known for deciding issues at midnight, like imposing Emergency in 1975, bungled the issue big time. Firstly announcing an important decision during the night, secondly, the Home Minister announcing it, when a Organizational Functionary could have done it, as it was still a political issue, and not an administrative or a constitutional one, and, thirdly, not consulting any other major political party, and not even their own state leaders. We all know that Telugu Desam, formed by the Late NTR, was a result of New Delhi having the remote control of the Television located in Andhra Pradesh.

Sonia Gandhi, the UPA Chairperson, is from Italy, which is in Europe. Two European countries, West and East Germany, were separate countries for a long time. They became an United Germany during Ronald Reagan’s Regime. All countries of Europe, including Italy, the birthplace of the Madam, as the spineless sycophants of Congress (I) refer and address her, became European Union, even having a common currency named as Euro.

POLITICAL PARTIES

Every Political Party in Andhra Pradesh, whether regional or a state unit of a National Party, contributed their mite to the recent fiasco. All Toms, Dicks, and, Harrys, were jostling to occupy a standing space on the over crowded bus known as Separate Telangana State. Many of them were even foot boarding, and some, hanging on to the bumpers of the bus. Senseless and Shameless passengers for whom we do not even feel sorry about.

Firstly, let us discuss about Congress (I). After so many years being out of power till 2004, forged an electoral alliance with TRS, which was demanding a Separate Telangana State. What and where were all these jokers, making a huge noise, were doing since then till now. Where were they?.Sleeping? Why did they not say and do what they are doing now? Was KCR’s fast a wake up call? All of those making a hue and cry, were waiting in the wings, for spoils of power and prosperity, and all of a sudden, woke up and realized, about the backwardness and development of Telangana now.

The elected politicians of Congress(I) are divided on the basis of where they belong to. Does anyone know what the party’s stand? If there is any. Since the so called “High Command” (Adishtana Vargam, as popularly referred to by the state level stooges) is already very confused, they are not able to issue a whip for the party’s elected politicians in the State to follow a party line. In Hindi, it is described as “Dhobi ka Gadha Na Ghar ka Na Ghat Ka).

Secondly, about Telugu Desam. What was the reason for having an electoral alliance with TRS in 2009, after having opposed the creation of a Separate Telangana State all along. Was it not a marriage of convenience? And now, the flip flops. Are they for it, or, against it. Nobody knows.
The elected members of TDP of Telangana speak a different language than their colleagues from Andhra and Rayalaseema. And poor Chandrababu, has no clue about what is happening. Having gone back and forth, he has no idea whether to support it or oppose it. In Telugu, it is “ Mundu Nuyyi, Venuka Goyyi”. Nagam Janardhan Reddy speaks French, Yerran Naidu speaks German, and, Gali Muddu Krishnama Naidu speaks Spanish. And our Friend Chandrababu, has to learn all these languages, having spent a long time learning Hindi, to be in the National Limelight.

Thirdly, the Poor BJP. Most of the Time, no one is able to figure out what their stand on any issue. Because their priorities change based on which side of the aisle they are on. When they are out of power, it is Temple, when they are in power, it may be Dimple, Simple, or who knows, may be Multiple??? They now roar from the rooftops that they created 3 states when they were in power. Yes, they did. Good. But none of the three had any bones of contention, like the previous division of Punjab and Haryana, when they had Chandigarh to fight about. And we all know, when Chandigarh became an issue, it was made an Union territory and a common Capital for both the states. And, God Forbid, If at all Telangana is carved out as a separate state, Hyderabad should be a common Capital like Chandigarh. Why not? It better be.

And then, all the other minor players, who exist just to fill in the minor gaps. PRP, CPI, CPM, Lok Satta, etc. Nobody knows why are they still surviving? May be to be listed as “also ran” like in a New York City Marathon. They remind me of slices of onions, tomatoes, lettuce, pepper, mushrooms, chutneys, in a nice spread of a Buffet Dinner. Or may be like boring Commercial Breaks while watching a funny movie. Like the

“Separate Telangana State”
K. Chandrashekhara Rao
Producer, Director, Screenplay, Music Director, etc, etc.

REALITY

As accused by the misguided elements spearheading the agitation for a Separate Telangana State, people from the Andhra and Rayalaseema region are not the only ones who are settled and doing business in Hyderabad. Gujaratis, Marwadis, Bengalis, Malayalis, Tamilians, and everyone else from all the other parts of India, have established businesses, employed people from Telangana, contributed to the prosperity of the region, paid taxes, developed Hyderabad and surrounding areas. So why are these “ Separate Telangana State” seekers only branding people from Andhra and Rayalaseema as looters, cheats, bandits, etc? Because, they are ignorant and misguided.

OK, they want a “Separate Telangana State”. Yes, let them have it. But, with a rider, Hyderabad will be a Union territory, as in the case of Chandigarh. Say that to them. They will either say Hyderabad is a part of Telangana, or, they may drop their demand for a separate state. This reminds me of a joke I heard a while ago.

After all the Prime Ministers India had, right from Jawaharlal Nehru thru Vajpayee, tried their best to resolve the Kashmir issue with Pakistan, Laloo Prasad Yadav went to Islamabad in a rickshaw to talk to Parvez Musharaff with the same objective. He came out of Musharaff’s office in a few minutes. The reason being, Laloo offered Musharaff to give away Kashmir to Pakistan, only if they were prepared to take Bihar along with it. And Musharaff did not accept the deal.

SUMMARY

Politicians demanding a ‘Separate Telangana State” are using the demand only to divert their constituents from the real issues. If people of Telangana were craving for a separate state, they would have elected politicians who were capable of accomplishing the objective. For example, 6 Lok Sabha and 42 Assembly Tickets were given to TRS in 2004. How many did they win? Why did many of the TRS Assembly members rebelled against KCR between 2004 and 2008? When all the TRS Parliament and Assembly members resigned because Congress(I) did not keep up its promise of creating a Separate Telangana State, and contested again, how many were able to retain their seats? And what was the difference in vote count in Karimnagar when KCR contested, recontested, and, re recontested? If the people of Telangana wanted to separate, every other party other than TRS would have not won a single Assembly, Parliament, or any local Body elections.

KCR, also known as K. Chandrashekhara Rao, should be better known as “KING OF THE CIRCUS RING”. Right from the Day 1, he had no credibility. He tried to improve his ratings from a minus to at least a plus one. And, after the 2009 elections, the minus became deeper. Even his own party people stopped caring about him. And, the absence of a Great Leader YSR’s demise became a boon and blessing for him to stage a Circus to regain the lost credibility, if he had any.

His political operation is somewhat similar to Bal Thakerey’s Shiv Sena in Maharastra. Raj Thakerey, Balasaheb’s nephew, struggled a lot to develop Shiv Sena, but was sidelined to develop Udhav, Balasaheb’s Son as the heir apparent for the fading Shiv Sena. And when Raj felt that he was a child of a lesser God, he left and formed a political outfit of his own. Though it is not wise to compare Shiv Sena and Balasaheb’s family to KCR, it is somewhat comparable. Harish Rao, nephew of KCR will be a AP Raj Thakerey because of K. Taraka Rama Rao, son of KCR.

“VIDHYARTHULA VIJAYAM” In English, it is Students Victory. VIDYA, in Telugu, is education. ‘ARTHULA” means some one who is working on gaining some thing. So, Students, working on gaining knowledge, to become better, to acquire knowledge that leads to earning a livelihood, are expected to making their lives prosperous and the society peaceful. And someone who floats around a University Campus, destroying Government property, causing Public Nuisance, and, creating hardships for a common man working hard to feed a few mouths, is not a “VIDYAARTHI”. Very unfortunate.

A FINAL NOTE

A “Separate Telangana State” is not happening anytime in the future. There is a saying in Telugu, when translated to English, it means that if there is wedding in the village, Dogs have a festival. All those who are reading the above, will definitely understand what I mean, and, I request everyone who is a Telugu Speaking Person, and, a person from wherever in India, whatever language you speak, whichever region you belong to, support this movement of keeping Andhra Pradesh UNITED.

JAI SAMAIKHYA ANDHRA PRADESH.
